What is Vastu Shastra? As generations passed to a modern lifestyle, why do people still believe in Vastu shastra? Why it is the most significant for a house buyer/builder?
"Vastu" means the place you live or dwell. "Shastra" means the sacred protocol for the well-being of a human.
Vastu shastra, a traditional Indian system with a blend of science and architecture, helps people by defining the structure of a building.
It completely deals with spatial geometry, ground preparation, and space management with plenty of reasons behind it.
Well, many believe that it's a trick or way to make people believe and pull some money out of their pockets.
Yet few believe it. For a common man, it is necessary to make them believe, not by theoretical but by practical means because it might bring some good fortune for them for a good cause.
Basically, Vastu shastra deals with 8 directions and four corners. Most of us aware of the eight directions and it is mandatory to cover the rest four corners for knowledge sharing.
Vastu shastra calls the four corners as
1) Kanni moola (A) Kubera moola
2) Agni moola
3) Jala moola (A) Eeshanya moola.
4) Vayu moola.

1) Kanni moola (A) Kubera moola
It refers to the god of wealth and its direction is South-west(SW). No swimming pools, water sumps or any water body should be built under the earth of SW direction and it might bring financial pressure and losses.
What if you construct a sump, bore well, Flush-out tank in the southwest corner?
Well, it is predetermined that the force of nature, air always blows from two corners. South-west and northeast. Like you would have heard the monsoons.
When southwest air/breeze flows through the well/tank, it might bring home, poisonous fumes and gases that arise deep from the well might affect the health of the resident, in turn, it disturbs them both physically and mentally. Residents of the home fail concentration in their work or business so that it even bring them financial losses.

2) Agni moola:
The right place in the home to install your traditional or modern kitchen and its direction is the South-East corner of your home.
And the front gate of the home should not be in the south-east direction. Especially when considering the other rooms, Kitchen should not share a wall with a toilet, or a bathroom above, below, or at the sides.
And to add, the south-east corner in which the kitchen located should not be extended or stretched towards the same direction.
The myth behind that is that you are tending to blow the fire more so that it grows out of control.

Unfortunately, if Vastu for your kitchen is inappropriate as per the shastra, growing Few shrubs or flowering plants, watering them in front of your kitchen might help adjust the shastra.
And one more is if your house has a window in the dining hall facing east direction, the early sunrise makes the food healthier by adding more nutrients and minerals and we consider this one can be an excellent tip. More nutritious food, more health.
3) Jala moola (A) Eeshanya moola.
The place where god enters your home and it is the spiritual belief for one who considers Vastu shastra, a major deciding factor while building a home.
Jala moola, The best place to maintain a water sump or a well. This direction face can be occupied by a living room or a porch that paves the way to enter right away into your home.
Should not plant or grow a huge or tall tree in the corner of northeast direction because it might bring misfortune to the residents.
Northeast breeze drives away the fumes or gases that arise from the water sump or bore well you maintain in the same direction.

4) Vayu moola.
This corner is controlled by the Vayu deity and the direction is North-west. The most appropriate place for a garage, utilities, pantry, or bathroom.
